Web writing is different from print writing because web reading is different from print reading.

Web writing

As web writers, our job is evangelical marketing to several audiences. These include but are not limited to:

  • Internal - members of our church and/or school community.

  • Peers - members of other churches or school communities who are aware of us.

  • External - those who are referred to us through a hyperlink on another site.

  • Searcher/surfer - those who reach our site through a web search for something related or unrelated to us.

Web statistics show that:

  • 90%+ of school web site visitors are local and probably internal.

  • About 55% of church site visitors are local, 30% peers and 8% external and the rest, other, which includes searcher/surfer and unknown.

Your web site stats are included in your Undercroft Network hosting plan.  Based on your targeted audience, you might want to tailor your writing style.
